After reading this, I was not sure whether that 140K included the Labour backlogs. I know the BECs have been a lot more active lately and have been pumping out approvals/denials more rapidly.
If infact 140K backlogs do include them, then perhaps that would be a good thing, since atleast then we can perhaps begin to get our arms around this and understand how long our waits will actually be.
One thing is for sure they have definitely stepped up the speed of things at the USCIS with other filings after retrogression hit.

I told him checking the tax returns is not CIS's function!! That is IRS.......he should relax. By the way, what happens if he approaches IRS saying it was an honest mistake and pays off the exsumption he took.
He can always file an amendment and pay up the money. In the amendment - he can state that he took the credit by mistake. Not sure if there is a time limit for filing amendment if you have to pay money. I know that there is a three year limit if you want to file for amendment and want to get a return/ refund.

USPS has a guaranteed Express Service which is a tie up with Fedex. It is much cheaper then sending through Fedex directly.
USPS accept the package and then hand over to Fedex. Because of their tie up, they get the advantage of bulk rate form Fedex and pass some of the saving to Customer.
On a flip side, it takes one additional day then if you hand over to Fedex directly.

LPR coz you didn't present the card. Henceforth... when you re-enter using your physical GC, they will write ARC on the immigration stamp, that is, Alien Resident Card.

USCIS is not required to return your adjustment of status applications within any timeframe. If your number becomes current before you receive your applications back, i suggest that you send in new applications and indicate on the I-485 that you submitted adjustment of status applications in July 2007 and have not yet received any correspondence from USCIS on the case.

Recently we are seeing lot of people with new id without completing profile they are able to start new thread. What if admin enforced new user to fill the personnel information and then only they can post on this web site. More importantly some key massages\important issues get berried in active forums due to above issue.
Even going further we can put trial period for new users for 15 days .If they have any questions just pay 5-10 $ and get active in forum there answers will be provided by all our valued/all star members (most green as per rank) in this way we get more revenue and members get valued advice.

Under prior law, the CIS already had authorization to extend the status of F1/OPT holders until the October 1st H1b start date (although notably they have chosen not to exercise this power in the last few years!). The extension available upon exercise of this power by the CIS, however, only extended status but did not extend work authorization. The extension that is now available under the new regulation just published, extends not only status but also work authorization through 10/1. This extension is automatic and no separate application is required.
This regulation will work as anticipated by the CIS in subsequent years, however, there is a fatal flaw in the drafting as it pertains to this year’s H1b filings. As drafted, to be eligible for the automatic extension, the H1b application has to have been filed as an H1b change of status case. When filing an H1b petition, the form allows you to choose whether you want consular processing or a change of status with the USCIS. A change of status with the USCIS requires that you submit evidence that you have lawful status through the requested start date of 10/1/08. Most applicants who filed H1b applications under the 2009FY quota whose OPT grace period ends prior to 10/1/08, did not file their H1b applications with a change of status request because they were not eligible. Consequently, they are not eligible now for the new automatic extension. Currently, the only way to rectify this situation is through an amendment (and, the H1b cannot be amended until it is approved). Is it advisable to put in a big % of your income into the retirement account. There seems to be a nearly 30% early withdrawal loss if you ever were to pull money early out of that prior to 60 years of age. So basically your own money will be lost.
Any ideas on this issue? It is not that I am planning to withdraw early but just for information purpose.
I contribute no more than 10% of my pay towards my 401K. I would not contribute more than this because I don't intend to stay here for a very long time. Also, I would be happy to put my money in savings with a decent return and stocks rather than my retirement fund.

Most medical centres/DRs are ripping off $$ on medical examination.
How to avoid/escape most of the cost..I just paid $200
First know about medical examination, as to whats done..
At any medical centre the basic cost should be around $185 - $200 (based on in/out of edison area)

1) blood work to test HIV & ppr(forgot name)
Note #1) this blood work does not check for MMR, Vericella, Tetanus
Note #2) No blood can check if one needs vaccination for Tetanus. Only MMR (measles - mums - rebella) and Vericella can be checked thru blood work, if a person needs it or not. Again i repeat the blood work done for medical test does not check for MMR or Vericella
Note #3) Vericella is nothing but chickenpox vaccine. Do not get confused
Note #4) Good medical centres (who do not rip off, like the two clinics i noted) just ask for proof (vaccination record) for the above three vaccines.
Note #5) Some say vericella not need bcoz of age like 35+, but immigration needs it

I got Horizon BCBS of NJ - HMO. according to plan i can get vaccination from primary care physician - no charges. The process is Dr does blood work to check if one is immune to MMR and vericella. eg. if blood work says the person is immune to MMR not Vericella, then the Dr gives vaccine for vericella and not MMR. The note from Dr would say MMR not need and vericella was given. Regd Tetanus, Dr gave me the shot as i did not have record to prove it was given earlier ...nor blood work can prove if one needs it or not.
Blood work takes 2-3 days.
Note: you need not have vaccination record at time of medical examination. I told the above two mentioned clinics that i will bring it (vacition record/report) later from Dr...they agreed. Remember till you show them they are not going to give you your report.

1.Brief History and Denial reason.
Did I485 interview at local office in Jan 2009.
Got Denial notice stating that I485 filed when dates are not current.
This is not true. Filed I 485 in 2007 July Fiasco.
Immigration office recived application in AUg 2007, well before deadline Aug 17'2007.
Got I485 receipt in October.
it was denied due to clear error.
2. Filed Service MTR with out filing Fee ( as this is service error)
Did not get any communication for 3 months.
In between took info pass couple of times and it did not help.
Wrote letter seeking help of senator explaining situation.
Immediately got reply that case was reopened and I797 Notice of action was mailed to me stating that case was reopend and finger prints expired.
Did finger printing in May.
Since dates are not current, I am not expecting any approval.
AT least I am happy that. case was reopened.
I heard that some 485 was denied ( 2007 July Fiasco) due to same error. I posted this experience as it would be helpfull for any other denials cases.

Regarding your status in the country, assuming that you acquired the green card before you married, a green card divorce does not change anything with your immigration status, but it may delay your application for full citizenship. THEY SENT ME MY AP WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S PICTURE!!!!!!!
Everything else is Correct (address, DOB, A# etc...)
GURUS, please advise what should I do...... I am so pissed!!!!! Thankfully my EAD has the correct pic.... I had done an E-file....June 7th and my previous AP expires Sept 20
Do ypu remember that Seinfeld episode where Costanza airbrushes off himself from the picture in Kruger's office. You could try something similar.. Just kidding :D. My sympathies are with you dear friend. Murphy's law always holds true when it comes to dealing with USCIS.
