We are in similar situation only difference in our case it the RFE is for me and we have our FP appointment scheduled on Aug 22nd 2008.
My attorney adviced us to bring in RFE letter with us and during FP appointment get it filed in by the Immigration officer who takes FP.
Our attorney also suggested me to send FP appoitnment notification letter for my wife alongwith my RFE, so USCIS idiots know that this couple already done with their FP.
This is ridiculous, e-file applicants have to go thro' this process of unnecessary RFE and delaying the process. Luckily for me my current EAD expires in Oct 2008, so we still have some time, but tink about the folks for whom the EAD is about to expire and USCIS delaying the process.
I recommend stornly to go for Paper filed EAD renewals. Onoine EAD is convenient, but then you have to go thro' the hasle of FP schedule and the RFEs.

To ur question of paper filed or E-filed ..while I agree that there is a hassle of bimoetric but in the other hand there is direct confirmation of USCIS receipt of the application....
Imagine u paper filed the renewal and send the package and for weeks u do not get a confirmation number for ur application.....that is even more frustrating than the hassle of e-file......
not knowing where u r heading is worst than being lost ....:) The choice is ours....

You are still not an immigrant. You are currently in Adjustee status. You will become an immigrant when your 485 is approved. Goodluck.

Yes it is positive --At-least senators are sticking to their timetable of CIR by March and April.

I have recently spent 2 weeks in Chennai and my overall taxi experience has been very good being non Tamil speaking. All Taxis charge more when the starting point is Airport. That is inevitable. If it is just to drop them at the nearest hotel, ask them to approach the Govt Prepaid Taxi booth.
Govt's is cheaper compared to the private Taxis. Ofcourse the Govt only has Ambassadors as the Taxis. Do not expect the Taxis to be neat and clean like here. Expect broken handles.....There are 3 other private Taxi booths, of the private taxis Fasttrack seemed a little lesser compared to others, almost all private taxi rates are closer.
If they need the Taxi from hotel check out Fasttrack website and get teh phone no for Chennai. They have been pretty good an picking me on time, but make sure you reserve it well in advance (4-5 hrs). Whenever I called in the last minute, they were not on time.
I did stay at a hotel far from Airport - clsoer to work. So might not be useful to u.
My experience with Taxis at Chennai airport have always been bad. They quote you a rate at the taxi counter and when you go to board the car, they will add on other charges saying that there is a lot of luggage. Anything more than two large suitcases, they charge at least 150 to 200. You have to haggle with them to not pay. Even the people at the counters side with the Taxi drivers.
Of late, I am having a call taxi service come to the airport to pick me up. You can talk to the hotel people to arrange for the taxi. it comes close to the actual fare quoted initially, but you wont have to pay those exhorbitant charges for luggage.

Change add' online in USCIS website. After few days you will receive confirmation letter. Also send AR-11 for to DHS and confirm with USCIS.
FYI, i saw 2 LUDs on 485 & EAD from the day i changed the address online.
I changed my address online and confirmed my address with cSR.
I didn't send AR-11 form though.
I didn't get any confirmation mail for address change to the new address..
Is this fine?

1. yes, if u use ac21, you can get ur h1 transferred too or opt to use your ead.
2. when u start new employment u fill out an I-9 form and will provide your ead at that time. It basically means you are using your ead for employment, which will automatically invalidate your h1b visa. so i don't think you can do the transfer at a later time.

It is possible that the employer may sue you. But since you would be finding a new job, you can always ask your new employer to give you a sign-on bonus which will be equal to or greater than the expenses demanded by your present employer.

Received the RFE today. It was asking for my birth certificate copy & translation. My lawyer says this is very common. For me this is stupid, they already got my birth certificate copy and the translation.

They shall allocate all unused Visa numbers in previous years to people stay in backlog for years.
They shall revise the current Name Check procedure so the process can be done predictably.

The only diff b/w these illegals vs legals is education. These illegals r uneducated and dont fear law and can go to any extent as opposed to legals who're well educated. At the same time, the Tri-valley situation brings to the fore the credibility of educated indians too!!! All those students came to US "legally" but started violating the law from the word GO by working at Gas stations, Mc Donalds etc...to make ends meet. Infact some even got in very well knowing that it was not completely legal as the guy from the university who was bringing ppl was a desi who worked for the university and forged fake documents for the students.
Overall, the Indian immigrant's image is at stake right now and this might lead to enforcing new laws against legal immigrants (read scrutiny, queries etc...)

Everyone in India knows someone living in the Bay area. My I-94 is expiring in a month. I have used Advance parole to enter US after a vacation about a year back. How do I renew my I-94 card? Does anybody know...
Even though you entered using AP, you might be able to extend your nonimmigrant status. As the prior answer says, this is not necessary but many employees like to have it in case the AOS is denied for any reason.
It is also useful because if your EAD expires and you have not received a new one, you cannot work even if a new application is pending. On the other hand, if your H-1B (for example) has expired but the company timely filed an extension, you can keep working while the extension is pending.

You dont need to do anything else. You may apply for a SIN number (Canada equivalent for an SSN) so that in the future if and when you do move there you can start working from day 1 because YOU WILL need SIN to work in Canada.
Many also start a bank account to show ties. You can do this depending on how much chance you think there is if you move there in the next 3 yrs before you loose your PR status.
